BusinessWise and NegocianteSagaz, the Spanish-language version, are the business start-up and expansion training programs offered by EHBCC to entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners. The cost of this course is $60.00, cash, non-refundable.

  • Credit: What is it; why is it important; how to improve it and how to read credit reports
  • A Business Plan, the need for one, and the components of a Business Plan

 The BusinessWise/NegociantesSagaz students will learn:

  • Characteristics of a successful entrepreneur
  • Reading credit reports
  • Preparing a Business Plan
  • Conducting market research
  • Determing who is their target market
  • Developing their marketing plan
  • Identifying their competitors, their strengths and weaknesses
  • Evaluating a business location
  • Determing businesses appropriate legal status
  • Tax implications of each type of legal status
  • Steps to opening their business
  • Determing startup costs and working capital needs
  • Reading and preparing financial statements including the Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet
  • Utilizing Excel to prepare a Cash Flow Statement
  • Understanding basic accounting concepts and structure
  • Understanding the basics of business financing
  • Preparing and delivering a professional presentation on the key aspects of a business concept including profits and expenses.

Financial Literacy for Youth

 The goal of the program is to expose young people to the concept of proper money magement as the basis of being financially responible The major objectives are to:

  • Teach how to plan, develop, use, and maintain a budget
  • Explore the development of financial goals and understand cash flow strategies
  • Teach banking basics

Food Handlers Certification Course

This fifteen-hour course is required by the Department of Health for Supervisors of Food Operations of a Food Service Establishment or non-retail establishments (i.e. restaurants, catering, etc.). Participants who complete this consecutive four-evening course and pass the Department of Health examination will be certified. The course requires a $60.00 dollar non refundable fee, in cash.

Financial Literacy Workshop

The program focuses on improving both personal and business financial management skills. The workshop provides the information needed to understand the importance of good credit, how to assess personal credit rating and, if necessary, how to develop a plan to improve credit rating. It also teaches how to maintain good financial records.

Women in Business Seminars

This seminar addresses business management problems and personal life issues that tend to affect female entrepreneurs, including those who operate home-based businesses.
