Computer Education

EHBCC’s Business Development Center is home to a twelve computers lab, available to all our clients. EHBCC also provides training in the use of computers in business, including setting up and using accounting management software, business plan development software, and the use of the Internet for business research and potential marketing and e-commerce strategies.

Please note:  In order for EHBCC to hold any computer classes, we are required to have a minimal of 5 (Five) people to check in and attend. You are required to check in up to two days before the class scheduled date, or else your application will be invalid. Computer Literacy

This course focuses on the basics for using a computer by teaching students the different components of a computer. This course also helps participants learn how to comfortably explore the Microsoft Windows Operating system interface. In addition, it teaches how to navigate the internet, how to surf the World Wide Web, as well as, the principles of using a search engine. Futher, this course will allow students to understand Internet security, and how to set up an e-mail account. Courses are offered in both English and Spanish.

Microsoft Outlook

This course introduces the Microsoft Outlook environment and describes its features. The course provides the students hands on training on the concepts of configuring e-mail accounts for composing, customizing, sending and receiving e-mail messages. The course also teaches the students to create and manage contacts, Address Books, and distribution lists.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program with sophisticated charting and database functions that allow students to quickly and easily perform both simple and complex calculations and chart data in numerous formats. This course features the basics for understanding the various components of the program and how to utilize its key features. The course familiarizes students with the Excel environment, gives an overview of basic formatting and spreadsheet operations and shows how to use basic formulas.

Microsoft PowerPoint

This course teaches the principles, concepts, and techniques involved in developing effective presentations with desktop presentation graphics (MS Power Point). Emphasis is placed on developing a presentation to effectively deliver messages to an audience.

Microsoft Word

This course teaches the fundamental word processing skills to beginning and intermediate level students. It will focus on learning how to control all text and graphic elements within the application and how to create documents for a variety of personal and business uses.

QuickBooks

This is an introductory course covering bookkeeping fundamentals, and how to setup an organization with QuickBooks. Students learn how to setup the chart of accounts, post income and expense items, work with balance sheet accounts, and interpret financial reports, and explores other elements of this powerful accounting management program.

Introduction to eBay

In this course, students learn how to buy and sell on eBay the correct way. The training teaches participants how to research and create listings that will attract buyers and enhance listings with better descriptions and photographs. It also teaches participants how to set pricing to maximize your profits, how to monitor sales to know exactly what’s working and what’s not. Finally, it teaches how to avoid many of the costly mistakes that new eBay sellers make.

Web Design

This course will teach students how to create a simple website using Microsoft Expression Web 4. The language in which students learn how to create a website is using HTML. Topics include: Understanding hard code, how to enter images, divs, text decorations, CSS editing, & in the end, the students are required to create a simple one page website with the knowledge they received.
